This might be very trivial, but it's a "fun" anecdote.
At Death's Door, by Jill Thompson, is based on and takes place during the events of Seasons of Mist. Neil wrote them and they were originally released in 1990/1991 In At Death's Door, Delirium mentions that Kurt Cobain is amongst the undead, and that he was singing. Now, Kurt Cobain died April 5, 1994 I'm not sure if Neil thought that Seasons of Mist would take place after mid 1994, but it's highly doubtful, eh? Ah well. - - - - PRESS RUN BUTTON! |

true... probably no one thought of it...
But still, if SOM doesn't mention any specific dates, then it could be set at anytime. And if you think about it, Bart Simpson was born in the early 1980s (they stated his birth year in the show explicitly), so he should be out of grade school by now... and they do make references to current culture frequently... |

a second thought: I was really surprised when Neil's American Gods story 'Monarch In The Glenn' mentioned the towers falling, because that sets the time frame of the stories down in stone. Sometimes it's nice to not have specific events listed so the dates can be fudged - it can help stop a story from being dated

Where is this American Gods story? I'm curious.
I think Death is "outside time"... so she could react to events before they happen. Or you could just say that comic book time bears so little relationship to normal time that its not worth mentioning (thats the explanation i favor). The American Gods novella is available in Legends II
And I thought of that too, GMZoe, about the towers. So, supposedly, the events in American Gods takes place when it was published, and since Shadow has been on the road for two years or so between the two stories, that would mean it's sort of written with real time as a base. - - - - PRESS RUN BUTTON! |
