i was wondering, what songs do you think will be on the tribute cd. Or rather, not the songs themselves but what stories/books/etc do you think will be the inspiration for songs? what are you hoping for the most?

I really hope theres a song about delirium. I know tori has one about desire. Thatll be cool.

Id like a song about queen of knives too. And of course neverwhere(I had a crush on door when I read the book. Still do kinda).

THe ravenstar track was pretty cool, im all excited about this heh.

I found this list on cinescape.

quote:
Track Listing:
1 Rasputina - Coraline
2 ThouShaltNot - When Everyone Forgets
3 Tapping The Vein - Trader Boy
4 Lunascape - Raven Star
5 Deine Lakaien - A Fish Called Prince
6 Thea Gilmore - Even Gods Do
7 Rose Berlin (feat. Curve) - Coraline
8 Schandmaul - Magda Treadgolds Märchen
9 Hungry Lucy - We Won't Go
10 Voltaire w/The Oddz - Come Sweet Death
11 Future Bible Heroes - Mr. Punch
12 Razed in Black - The Endless
13 The Cruxshadows - Wake the White Queen
14 Ego Likeness - You Better Leave the Stars Alone
15 Azam Ali - The Cold Black Key
16 Joachim Witt - Vandemar
17 Tori Amos - Sister Named Desire (New Master)

Lots of Sandman songs, apparently (but sorry Eldi, I don't see anything about Delirium Frown). On the other hand, it looks like there's at least one Neverwhere song (Vandemar), 2 songs called Coraline, and lots of Stardust songs (kind of surprised there's not lots of American Gods songs -- and no Anansi Boys songs Frown).

oh ruin my fun why dont you?!?

Thanks for the list, didnt see that anywhere.

Some of those titles dont trigger any thoughts. They mght be from stories I havent read...(the only wide release novel I havent read is coraline, but there are of course random short stories I havent found yet)

What are these for:

ThouShaltNot - When Everyone Forgets
Deine Lakaien - A Fish Called Prince
Thea Gilmore - Even Gods Do
Schandmaul - Magda Treadgolds Märchen
Hungry Lucy - We Won't Go

Not 100% sure...All these are just guesses (but that's the fun bit about things like this, isn't it?):
I'm guessing a Fish Called Prince is from the Golfish Pond short story (only because I saw it mentioned in the article...it's been a long time since I actually read it).
Everyone Forgets I'm thinking must be American Gods.
Even Gods Do could be American Gods. Or Sandman.
No idea on Magda Treadgolds Marchen (Maybe Mrs. O might...) Guessing The Day I Swapped My Dad For 2 Goldfish, only because that's on the list, too.
We Won't Go...Wolves in the Wall. Maybe?

I don't really know for sure about any of them, though...

What's Trader Boy for?

I figured trader boy was from stardust too, I mean the whole wall market thing.

Theres no fish called prince in the goldfish pool, that could be from the day i swapped my dad for 2 goldfish, didnt even think of that one.

Every one forgets could be the mystery god, I hadnt even thought of that!

I dont know. hmm. I guess we'll just have to wait... (or open google. Ill be back shortly.)

I googled Magda and got this...

quote:
And as soon as he was sure that he was dead, he got up and shook himself, and looked around, and there waiting for him on the bed was his wife, with long claws out, and her eyes blazing like a green cat ready to spring.

Magda's story, in SANDMAN #62: "The Kindly Ones:6"

And he screams, "Kill me, for god's sake, just get it over with." But she licks her lips with a long worm tongue, and she shakes her head. "A meal this good must never be hurried," she says. "Just hold still, boy, and let me enjoy myself." And she takes her first, gentle bite from his cheek with her sharp sharp teeth...

And that's the story, as my mother used to tell it.

Magda's story, in SANDMAN #62: "The Kindly Ones:6"

and what this has to do with NEIL, probably nothing but i thought this was interesting...

one of the guys has a solution which involves the phrase "fish called prince" and well, google can be misleading. haha. Im still working on the others.

Trader Boy...that's gotta be the Day I Swapped My Dad for Two Goldfish. Why didn't I think of that before?

Source material for the songs are characters and stories from Coraline, American Gods, The Day I Swapped..., Stardust, The Goldfish Pool, The Wolves in the Walls, Mr. Punch, Mirror Mask, Neverwhere, and of course various Sandman tales. The Schandmaul track might be hard to figure out from the title; it is from the Sandman story "The Kindly Ones." Each of the songs is discussed by Neil in the liner notes, and all of the lyrics are printed in the booklet, so the connections will be very obvious when you have the CD in hand.
