I have had some odd dreams over the last ten years, more recently about people I have been reading about or suchlike - Bowie, and others. Last night I had a strange dream about Neil, I can't remember much but we were talking about something abstract, and we shared the same view about whatever it was, and we were going to go for lunch, and then I woke up. Maybe I can get back there tonight and continue the converstation, happens sometimes.

Last time Neil was in one of my dreams, I showed him Zoe who was wearing a leather jacket. Later on, Zoe's head (bodyless) was on the ground near Neil's backpack.

I dreamed I was at a party in a big house (a few weeks ago). It was a celebration for Neil but he didn't look like he was into it. Everyone was Fawning over him. I just sat in a big cumfy plush green chair like a cat and people watched. Neil looked really tired. One lady had a fake crow on her shoulder so I started telling her about the crow that lived in my town and talked to people. I woke up while telling the lady about Edgar Allen Crow.
last night i dreamed i could make coins appear between my fingers, and it was very convincing, i only showed a few people, and then i woke up and tried it, alas, it didn't work, would have been a nice party trick.

I once had a dream with Neil Gaiman, Alan Moore, and John M. Ford in it... The thing is, I'd never seen Alan Moore, or his pic, before the dream, but I looked him up after, and it was him. Very weird and scary.
I'm new to this discussion board, and I'm glad though slightly surprised to find that others have had dreams about Neil. I had one about a month ago, and it seemed extremely odd to me to have such an intense dream about someone I've never met. I drempt I was driving through the small country roads in Minnesota and I was lost when I came upon a large farmhouse. I stopped to ask for directions and found out it was Neil's house. There were a bunch of people all around talking and partying and doing chores and all kinds of things, and the place was all decked out like Ken Kesey's place, with artwork and sculpture all over and day-glo ribbons in the trees and stuff. Neil said he'd been expecting me and invited me to stay there and live with them if I wanted. That's about the gist of it, but it was just so intense and evoked such a strong sense of love and belonging and longing, even after I woke up. It seemed very strange at the time, because like I said I've never met him, and I don't consider myself an active fan, although I definitely enjoy his writing. I guess I'd say I'm a big fan of his work, but had never really thought much about Neil, himself. So, anyway, I sort of forgot about the dream until recently, when I started reading American Gods. And as I've been reading, several times I've been struck by some event or situation or turn of phrase that causes such a deep, personal emotional response that it almost seems like the book was written just for me. Which sounds like the most crazy, stalker-esque thing in the world, but it's just the effect his writing has on me. It's such powerful stuff... So I felt compelled to seek out other fans, to see his work resonates with other people as strongly and personally as it does with me. And apparently it does, which makes me feel much better; I guess I'm not going crazy after all.

Ahhh, thats so weird, this thread just brought back the dream I had last night that I've been trying to remember.
Someone said the thing about coins, and yeah. In my dream I WAS Shadow, from American Gods. Thats what was so weird about it, I never ever dream that I'm anybody else! Agh, this is crazy. I remember being on a train, I think in a group of people who were gods but weren't actually in the book. Suddenly I was at a table of people demonstrating odd talents. So I tried to show them the coin trick with pulling 'em out of the air, but it didn't work. I was there too, so I was Shadow and myself at the same time. Agh. And earlier, oh yeah, earlier in the dream I'd been trying to remove memories from someone, I think my boyfriend, but it didn't work and instead my memories dissappeared, and I guess because I was also Shadow so did his, and he couldn't remember how to do his coin tricks.
Agh! Thats so strange. Yeah. I just had to talk it out, I guess.

I occassionally have dreams about some of Neil's characters. ^^ A few days ago I had a dream about Loki, Mr. Punch, Lucien, and Mr. Bromios. I think that's his name. The innkeeper out of Stardust? Sounds like GMZoe has the most interesting dreams. Does anyone have a favorite or strangest dream?

I had a dream a few nights ago that Neil was bent on world domination, and he was trying to killl me. I was running through this forest, and he was right behind me, until these nice Amish guys came and saved me. eh.... it was pretty normal for me.

I once had a dream about Neil and a really fat talking cat. To the best of my recollection, we were all speaking on a panel at a writer's convention. And I think the comic book guy from the Simpsons was in the audience.
It was bizzare, but fascinating...

There is a fascinating place in the Internet, named Mystery Clock (www.mysteryclock.com). It is site created by Alex Proyas - the director of "The Crow" and "Dark City". There is a part of it named "Book of Dreams" in which you can find the descriptions of its visitors' weirdest dreams.

About a week and a half ago, I had one of those dreams in which several things are happening at once...like stimuli overload, so you only remember certain fragments of the dream hours after you wake up. In my dream, Neil was a news anchor, but not the cheesy fake kind. He was just like himself, but wearing a suit and tie and on a floating TV in the middle of a red sky. I can't remember a thing he said, only that it was him. There's was a lot weirder shit going on, but not the kind of stuff I was to remember right now.

Jesus, for the past three weeks it's been buffalo men and jail cells. Thank god! I thought I was alone! "Hi, my name's Ed, and I dream in Neil-speak." "HI ED..."

Since I have been a child with this recurrent dream of Hansel & Gretel gone wrong, I have not dreamt of storybook tales. I remember my sister having trouble getting through Tolkein's LotR with terrible nightmares and I laughed at her. We were teens then. About a month ago I read Neil's "Neverwhere" and that changed my record. I dreamt of it the night I began the book which by the way I had a hard time putting down. I blame him for that addiction. Anyway, the dream pretty much paralleled the story with invisible doors and underground passages as if I had never gone to sleep. When I woke this fugue followed me the rest of the day and interloped into part of the next. It was as if I felt that somewhere.. at some point in time.. a door might open. That… is good writing. Being able to be pulled into a story so that it affects you that strongly is something I hope I can one day do.. and be paid for it. Friends have encouraged me for a few years to take up the proverbial pen (they have been victim to my writing) and transfer my imagination to print. Neil has been part of that inspiration recently with his other works such as Sandman and American Gods. I hope I don't let everyone down. And I pray he writes a sequel to Neverwhere!
You are a veritable library of Neil information! You wouldn't happen to know where I could get a copy of Snow Glass Apples for less that $100 would you? Also, the publishers, as told to me by Borders Books, aren't printing Stardust in paperback anymore? Us poor people need our Neil but can't handle the big money. Ideas? If I don't get my fix I'll be forced to finish the three stories I have started of my own. Ughh... the horror!
