I just came across the link in Neil's blog to the short video summary of the Sci Fi Hall of Fame Induction he MC'd. ( http://video.scifi.com/v/?linkid=24022 )

I was lucky enough to be one of the stormtroopers asked to appear at the event, and so by the same token, I was lucky enough to have a little chat with Neil. It never ceases to amaze me how cordial he is to total strangers all the freaking time. Of course we peons realize that his fortune and fame are the result of the general public salivating for his writing talents...but it's nice to know that he knows it too. He's always so kind and accomodating to his fans, even if it means sitting at a signing table for hours on end until his hands are cramped and brown with ink.

He was especially kind to my whole nerd herd (all the geeks who dress up like stormtroopers for kicks) and chatted and posed for pictures any time he was approached.

It's just refreshing to meet some one of his status without the "Bow down before me" attitude. Kudos to Neil for remembering we're all worthy.
