Is it just me or is Neil slowly turning into Alan Rickman?

LOL! It's not just you, Priest. From the journal in 2004, Neil writes:
"Well, I don't think I look like Alan Rickman. And I used to be dead puzzled when people would compare us. That kind of stopped when I was on breakfast TV in Finland, last year. I was sitting in the studio, waiting for the second half of the interview to start, facing a huge bank of TV screens, with all the various things that were on TV in Finland at that point playing on them, along with several movies and things. And on one of the screens I noticed Alan Rickman. And then I shifted in my seat, and he shifted in his seat, and I realised it wasn't Alan Rickman at all. And, as I explained to Lotta, my editor who had taken me, I sort of understood the comparison to Rickman at that moment. I still don't think I look like him, mind..." This message has been edited. Hmmm ... I think he has just one very Rickman-ish expression, but he wears it fairly often. At those times, I can see the resemblance, especially when Rickman is being Snape and has longish hair like Neil.

I saw one picture, I think it was when he was looking at some characters' designs for Coraline, where he actually reminded me strongly of Tim Burton.

Jeez, he's good looking now
but what a ridiculously cute child he was too. ______________________ “Fandangling across the moony sky, went the Beezee bold as brass, side-saddle she sat, on a big painted bat, shooting moonbeams out of her a(censored)e.” ~Joe ________________________ Isn't sanity really just a one trick pony, anyway? Even if you think I might be crazy...I think Neill has the SLIGHTEST bit of Patrick Dempsey in him. McDreamy in Grey's Anatomy or that lead singer from Snow PAtrol!

Every once in a while, in the right light and from the right angle, Neil Gaiman resembles Jeff Goldblum.

Neil's blog linked to Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab a couple weeks ago. They have some limited edition scents based on some of his works, and the image they used at the top of the page is obviously supposed to be Neil, but looks like Alan Rickman. Hee hee hee!

I can see the Rickman resemblance but only when Rickman has the longer dark hair of Snape in the Potter movies. Otherwise, they don't look a bit alike to me. Also, the Black Phoenix image is too heavy for Neil.

the line-drawing logo on the neilgaiman.info wiki thingy that Dan Guy set up (and GMZoe, right?) looks very Rickman-esque.

Gary Lightbody was "born" in 1977. Neil Gaiman sang and played bass in a punk band in 1977. Neil Gaiman is known to have a small army of clones, most likely grown in vats beneath his home. Is Gary Lightbody one of them? |

I vote yes.
Edit to add: Also, I think Neil's avatar on his picasa photo album is astonishingly life-like. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Weeble, ~ . . ~ . . ~ . . ~ . . ~ . . ~ . . ~ . . ~ . . ~ . . ~ . . ~ Weeble Song! Sing along! ~ courtesy Snazzy Snazzypants You're a good egg. ~ Royko |

I think he looks like Neil Gaiman (though there are similarities to Alan Rickman ... but I've heard Mr Rickman has an alarming presence and Mr Neil's presence is reassuring - not scary)

Alan Rickman, as Snape, actually looks like a bit of a cross between Gaiman and how Morpheus hisself is depicted a few times. Hmm... *ponders whether or not Alan Rickman or Johnny Depp would play a better Morpheus*
