Hi all. I know you've heard this lots of times already. But really, he is.
I was fortunate to have met Neil Gaiman personally last night, and he was awesome. There was a crowd of 3000 people and he signed for almost ALL of them. (He was informed he would be signing for 500.) He stayed until every one had his stuff autographed, and that was past 1 a.m. (I was a blubbering idiot when my turn came, and he assured me I wasn't and he gave me a hug!) Needless to say, he made 3000 people very happy last night. |

hello!!! i am new here to but have loved neil gaiman's work for a very long time. i went last night too!! got to the mall at ten thirty, got a 524 stub, waited until 2 pm for the tent to open, waited another two hours, and when neil came, oh gads, the flashing lights and the screaming and the general jubilation at seeing him in the flesh. he was kind and gracious and funny and a bit taken aback at the way we screamed and hollered. he made you feel everyone's signature was special, he drew little pictures of mr. wednesday and rattus rattus, and girls were crying and laughing after he'd hugged them. he made sure the kids and mothers got priority because he didn't want them to get home too late. and 12 hours later, he was just as attentive and nice to me as to the first ones who had their stuff signed. i gave him a gift, and he hugged me and kissed me on the cheek and thanked me. but i want to thank him. neil gaiman actually being here in manila is nothing short of magical, and makes you think, gads, the country's a big sloppy sad mess, but if stuff like last night can happen, then maybe there's hope. salamat (thank you), neil!!!

Hey, Francis here from the Philippines.
Well, as u guessed he's in the Philippines right now. Met him last Saturday at the booksigning at Rockwell. And I must say he's so cool! He even talked to me! WAHHHH! I can't believe that I'm actually talking to my most favorite comic writer! One of the things I said to him was "I visit your blog everyday!" and he said "me too" and we both had a light laugh. Witty and very funny. He even compared us with Barzilians and Singaporeans. Yes, he was terrified that Filipino fans are hyper-excited when he encountered them. Guess you can never blame us. It's Neil Gaiman ...who could possibly maintain their composure....wahhhh! Imagineerings: Ship of Fools |

Hallo, new on the board, and I thought this would be a good place to start posting. ^__^
Signing one book for 3000 people is a mind-boggling notion -- but when you factor in the fact that a number of those present had more than one book for Mr. Gaiman's autograph, it makes you wonder just how he managed to be so warm and gracious to everyone. Admittedly, the tiredness was showing beneath the warmth and charm around person number 312 in line -- me -- but he was still as nice as he'd been to my friends who were in the first batch of 30 people. It was certainly one huge lovefest yesterday, and I hope the remainder of his stay is less hectic. Lucky people who had dinner with him! ^__^ |

Hi! I'm also a new member. Neil Gaiman was very accomodating. I was also at rockwell last night but I had the ticket due for signing today in greenhills. I heard form my friend that neil gave her a hug. I had my items signed a while ago and he gave me a peck on the cheek since i gave him a small token. He's such a great guy that I wonder how sandman could come from such a nice person (not that I'm complaining or anything). I hope you'd come back soon Neil!!!

We all agree he's cool when we read his writing. I learned today during the writers' forum that he's also cool when he speaks! Love his humor and appreciate his honesty. Way to go!
Oh by the way, speaking of cool... Did you know that during "The Gathering", when Neil took his 10-minute dinner break, he ate in the backstage on a monobloc table while standing up?! And we never heard a whine from him! Wow. Very admirable of him! This message has been edited. Last edited by: karenkristie, ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ | karenkristie.blogspot.com | |

I missed his stop in Boston for Ansai Boys, and reading these posts makes me 10x more disappointed! He should come back to New England, so I can confirm that he's as cool as he seems!

I wonder if he'll ever come to Norway... I think we deserve it!

Looks like we've got a shot then. I might move to Glasgow, Scotland in the fall though, which'll make it easier for me, with a nighttrain to London etc etc. I think it'll give me a better chance of meeting him (although that is not, ofcourse, the reason for the move. I'm just tired of Norway. If anyone is interested in travelling Europe and Asia this fall, and need someone to go with, pm me)
Thanks Amy! _______________________ You should be fencing, and I should be banging coconuts! "No more! The Earth's a burrito! We're done!" -The Snazz- Trying to take over the world, one nude cook at the time |

I always imaged Neil as being very short, is that so?

Oh dear, Yepa, the Eurpean Tour was already over and done. His response is just explaining HOW he gets to other countries and what protocols need to be followed to get him there.
Chiaro, he's tallish? 6' something? (Honestly, at 5'3", everyone's taller than me. Except DaysleeperChickie. I think she quite possibly might win for Shortest Boardian.) _____________________________________________________________ Don't you realize? The next time you see sky, it'll be over another town. Yup. Just read the update in his journal, and I'd love to be in Glasgow right now.

He is a really down to earth person unlike some Hollywood figures who are fooled by their social status.
I'd love to meet him and ramble about books, poets, and writers. Someday... Glad so many people have met him and have had a unique experience with him. "If music be the food of love, play on. Give me excess of it, that, surfeiting..." - W.S. |

I wish I could meet him. But at the same time, I'd be a little afraid because as awkward as I am around anyone I admire I would probably make a complete fool of myself. That and I don't want to meet him as in "Hey sign this take a picture bye" but I'd actually want to...Talk to him. For more than five seconds and not only about something he wrote.

Having experienced complete fan girl breakdown recently in front of Stephen Merritt of the Magnetic Fields recently, I think I'm back to "sign this take a picture bye" for the time being.
