Currently writing a thesis on the way Joseph Campbell influenced present-day novelists and screenwriters. Obviously, there are connections to be drawn between Campbell's work and Neil's (especially Sandman), but does anyone know if Campbell was in fact an actual influence on Neil, and in what way? What works did he read, how have they influenced his work, that sort of thing. Links to information on the web would be useful... Any help with this highly appreciated!

(Have had a short look at Stephen Rauch's 'Joseph Campbell and Neil Gaiman's the Sandman: in search of modern myth', but I don't think he actually mentions this issue).
