Hey, this is Robert from Fantasy Book Critic, (website dedicated to book reviews, interviews, giveaways, etc. of fantasy, sci-fi, horror, suspense, etc). Thanks to the publicists at the HarperCollins Children's Department, I'm hosting a giveaway HERE for a set of both Neil Gaiman's "The Graveyard Book" and Terry Pratchett's "Nation" in support of the books' September 30, 2008 US release.

I’m not trying to spam here. Just thought some of you might be interested in this Smile So if you enter, good luck! Thanks for your time and much love & respect...

Hmmm...I'm a little skeptical of giveaways these days. Roll Eyes

The Owl and the Pussy-cat went to sea
In a beautiful pea-green boat,
They took some honey, and plenty of money.
Wrapped up in a five-pound note.
The Owl looked up to the stars above,
And sang to a small guitar,
'O lovely Pussy! O Pussy, my love,
What a beautiful Pussy you are,
You are
You are!
What a beautiful Pussy you are!'

No...it's not rude. When I enquired about the prizes a few days ago, I did so with a bit of humor. I suppose one might consider me a bit cheeky though. Sorry if it eluded you. I gave some clues as to the lightheartedness of my enquiry by reference to Monty Python's "nudge nudge" routine.
Even then, the reply I received was somewhat curt. You even implied that I only joined this forum in order to win one of your fabulous prizes and then slithered away. You made me feel as though I was incredibly rude for asking and that, somehow, magically, I should have known you didn't have money for postage.
I responded by apologizing and forfeiting my prize.
If you don't have the money to send anyone their prizes, that's fine. It's not a big deal. Perhaps you could take the initiative though and notify folks. I'm sure there is not a soul on this forum that would not understand your plight. It's as simple as sending an email and would only take a few seconds.
So, if you are still reading this post, I repeat, please DO NOT send me a prize. Keep the prize and I hope that your situation improves.
I never wanted any hard feelings. I joined this forum as a chance to make new friends. I'm a Neil Gaiman fan and wanted to have a bit of fun. It's all different now so let's just forget the whole event ever occured. I wish you the best.

hello cappy.

there seems to be a lot of misunderstandings going on here.

aitapata never meant to imply you joined to get a prize, you had to have already joined to be allowed to enter, we have disappointingly in the past given prizes away to new posters and they have never returned to us, such is the way of life and we are not going to stop giving prizes to new posters because of the few.

This competition has been running for many years now and although prizes are sometimes late being posted, they have always been posted eventually.

We did put a notice up this year in the competition itself that the delivery of prizes would be late as the postage money is all coming out of aitapata's own pocket, but it is sometimes easy to miss these things. I'm sure aitapata would love to be able to send all the prizes off at once and I'm sure she is sensitive to the fact that she can't and that their are people waiting patiently.

whilst you request to not send you the prize is appreciated, i'd be very surprised if it was kept to as we do honour our agreements, just sometimes later than we would originally like.

(I'm still willing to send aitapata some money via Paypal, if needed - I remember reading that things would be delayed)
