Jeph has agreed very nicely to let me interview him - God knows why. Eek Not for any newspaper, just like that and for you guys. Whatever, he'll at least get a wellwritten portrait out of it. Smile

So this is your chance. If there's anything you've always wanted to ask him, let me know. I can't promise anything, though. I mean, an interviewee usually can't handle more than ten main questions, and in this one I want to focus strongly on him as a person and also on financial stuff.
But I do want to ask one or two things about the plot and/or indie culture, if that's what you want to know.

Let me know within the next few days.

I have nothin' of value to add, just that That's So Cool!

How did you approach him? Just send him an e-mail asking if he fancied doing an interview?

Should be really interesting. Smile Yay!

Yeah. I did.
I was actually excruciatingly honest and said I had nothing to offer in terms of popularity or readership that he didn't have already (as I'm not writing for the newspaper, just, like, privately).

But he answered back in record time and said "sure". There's no big company, no name, no nothing to back me and he still agreed. Wow.

I haven't been that panicky about an interview for...well, since the time I did my first interviews. Maybe it's because this is something I'm really excited about myself. Smile

Yep, that's the link!
Amy, CountZero listed QC in your "Coolnesses" thread.
That's how I really got into it in the first place. Big Grin (And oh gosh that thread is killing me...too many cool links.)

I visited (lurking) QC's forums the other day, and they are booooring.

There's one dedicated to discussing the week's comic, and it goes on for three pages about who the Vespa girl is: Ellen? Natasha? Hannelore?

How about... a new character?

Then the music forum, boooring as well, though I did spot our Lord of Nothings there.

His making an FLCL reference struck me out of the blue, but I loved it. Have you done the interview yet? If not, will you ask about her?

The 'make gross generalizations about people based on their musical taste' thread is my new home, though there are too many metalheads

Thigns I Want to Know:

When he'll make a joke about The Hold Steady or Architecture in Helsinki

Why he's focused more on relationship/character stuff and less on music jokes/does he feel preasure from indie fans who want a comic about 'their' subculture, like Penny Arcade is for gamers

What's the connection with Cowboy Bebop besides Faye's name (he's mentioned it before)

Whether he realized the organizer of LlamaCon, which he attended, is a jerk who implied that i liked Chun-Li porn

er... maybe don't ask the first and last questions

The metalheads don't bother me, I rather like (some) metal myself. The immaturity and close-mindedness and lack of interesting discussions like those that happen in the WE are what turns me off.

that's a good one, although I personally enjoy the mix of character-based plot with some indie references. A comic wholly about indie music would probably be less fun to read.

Hm? There are tons of interesting discussions.
Its also become sort of a hangout for Aussie indie music fans. I'm not sure why, but its a good place to chat about shows and pimp the guys I work for
