So I was all set to cancel New Avengers...then I read the little spiel Bendis did at the end of the last issue (in the letters page), talking about the civil war and his plans for upcoming issues. Dammit, it sounded really intriguing. That Bendis is so tricksey that I once again find myself giving him the benefit of the doubt. He better make mine marvel this time or I'm gonna be pissed.

bwhahahahaha.

so, i used my new comic shop this month. can't say i'm much more impressed!

i picked up fables, angel and spike v dracula plus an issue of otherworld that had been missed from my pickup at the last shop.

however there was no fallen angel, and they didn't have a clue when it was due in - useful!

I picked up Moon Knight #1 this weekend. I've always liked Moon Knight, but it's a series that's always run dry and been cancelled. This must be series #5, 6, or 7.

Please make this a lasting series with good plots and writing.

Also, I bought the Atlas era Tales to Astonish, Marvel Masterpiece book a few weeks ago.

Awesome! I hope they release more of these 50's-60's sci-fi horror collections.

I believe there are four of them, Scoundrel.

*looks at bookshelf*

Yes, four of them. They are worth every penny if you don't mind black and white. You'll really enjoy it, especially for late night reading.

Gene Colan art rocks!

This is not about new comics but I was cleaning out the basement today and when I would take a break I would go through and pick out a random comic from my collection to read. That was fun. Any true comic collector would cringe at my collection. I have not treating them kindly over the years but I don't really care. I enjoyed them and I still enjoy them.

i really need to sort my collection out - it's in a mess - all boxed, but a mess.

i think i might try and e-bay some of them but i don't think the odd ones i'll want rid of will be worth anything.

must have sort out....one day...

No fear. Those Marvel Essentials should run you no more than $11-$12 each delivered if you shop around.

That's a lot of good reading for the dollar.

Went to the comic shop yesterday. Bought:

latest issues of Daredevil, New Avengers, and a New Avengers special (give me a little credit, Smaug, I told them no thanks, don't need the NA Annual). And I told them to hold the Civil War issues for me.

Hey, has anyone else heard that Grant Morrison is writing WildC.A.T.s? Jim Lee is penciling it (geez, I used to think Jim Lee was sooooooooo cool). I'm totally looking forward to that one. Grant Morrison's New X-Men was one of the best X-Men arcs I ever read.

Bought Hawkgirl 51, Batman 652, JSA 80 and 82, and Ion

I still do not know why the changed Hawkman to Hawkgirl. They FINALLY! had a cool Hawkman that was worth reading and a good storyline and they ruin it. Hawkgirl is not interesting at all.

Batman was ok, apparently they have niced up Batman. Not sure if I care or not yet.

JSA sucked, Ion was ok.

Oh, I also bought back issues of Demon(the previous series), Firestorm(the 80's one) and Breach 11. All were very good. They should have never canceled Breach(except no one was reading it) or changed Ronnie Raymond as Firestorm.

I just finished reading the New Avengers: Illuminati special. Aside from a kinda lame name, the comic was really good. Why the hell isn't the monthly title like this? This is the shit I've been wanting from Bendis and the New Avengers since I started reading it. I felt something for all these characters -- they all seemed real here. Even the Hulk (usually, I'm not really interested in the Hulk).

It's all about Iron Man, Dr. Strange, Namor, Reed Richards, Blackbolt, and Professor X coming together in a secret society and how things fell apart. The basic thrust is (semi-Civil War spoiler) that the US government is going to put together something akin to the mutant registration act, except it's not going to be for all super-powers, not just mutants. Those who join will become a part of SHIELD. Those who don't, they'll but hunted down and at the very least, incarcerated.

Yeah, if the regular series turns out to be more like this, I'll definitely stick around.

Didn't they do that for the DC universe in the mid 80's? I think it was Glorious Godfrey with Darkseid's help disguised as(go figure)G.Gordon Godfrey, who campaigned and successfully convinced the US government to have the Super Powers cease and desist superactivity. I'm sure there are big differences though.

Regardless, I like that kinda stuff. Sounds interesting. I like to see how they get out of it. I may buy it on your recommendation, Scoundrel.

Thanks.

Arghhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!! The pressure, the pressure!!! Such pressure!

Sure hope you like it Smile

Haven't read those DC comics you mentioned, but it really does seem like the whole mutant registration act the X-Men were always fighting to keep from happening Marvel. It better be good, or I'll be PISSED!
