Iznogoud is sort of the French Roadrunner - it's mostly 8 page episodes. Iznogoud is Great Vezeer in Baghdad in the time of The Arabian Nights, and he wants to be Caliph instead of the fat and fairly stupid Caliph. Sort he sets up all sorts of elaborate schemes to get the Caliph to dissapear, but of course he always falls into his own traps.

I don't think it was ever published in English.

Btw, unlike Asterix and Lucky Luke, which turned to shit when Goscinny (the writer) died, Iznogoud artist Tabary actually managed to write some pretty good stories on his own.

I can scan some sample pages for you, unfortunately it's in Danish.

In this tale Iznogoud hears rumours on Baghdad's town square about a local inventor who's invented a so-called 'rocket' which can help you travel to the heavens.

Here he explains to Iznougoud that "As everyone knows, the Earth is flat, and Baghdad is the center of the Earth. My rocket will carry you to the heavens... and you and the rocket will get stuck there.

When Iznougood realizes that there's no way for the rocket to travel back, he hatches a scheme - he's trick the Caliph into the rocket and send him into orbit. Unfortunately the Caliph is too lazy to walk all the way to the town square, so Iznogoud has to arrange for the rocket to be transported through Baghdad to the palace....

When he finally gets the Caliph into the rocket, the powder won't catch fire. Eventually the Caliph gets bored and leaves the rocket.... and the Rocket starts rather belatedly several weeks later, when it's been moved to a storage room just below Iznogoud's office.....

So. Basically Asterix meets the Roadrunner and Wile E Coyote in old Baghdad. Fun! Smile
