I think the fact that Dora handled it in this manner is even more likely to keep them functional with each other more than a later disintegration would. It is sad that it did not work out but that is life. I think Mr. JAcques can pull it off, though.

I agree with Hart - the fact that she's realised it's not working from HER end and broken up with him makes it more likely they can stay friends than if she'd pulled the same shit again and dumped her.


But to get back to being meta - it's brave of Jeff to do it, but it's not an out-of-the-blue Poochie moment. It has been building for some time, and is true to both characters. I can't think of a similar webcomic which has done something quite so bold (excepting perhaps the peerless Mr Allison completely changing his comic).

Its a nice little reality check nothing can be going all happily along for too long

It has been building for a while, but still! OMG.

Oh good. This could have been dragged out into months worth of angsty storyline but I think he wrote what needed to be done in the best way possible. And I think everything will turn out ok, too.

How long ago do you suppose Dora moved in? I'd guess no more then 6 weeks or so.

I think time moves differently there I would have said 6months or so.

Domi, I think it's brave because things have been going comfortably well for the author on the old track, I think that makes it hard to change it. Howling and gnashing of teeth in the fanbase!

I'm still not convinced this is the end of the Marten-Dora ship, though. We'll see.

there are so many characters now that i cant keep up with who everyone is anymore, especially when some of them appear for 2 or 3 strips and then disappear for a month or so

I'm kinda weirded out by Momo looking human. I didn't really think I had an android prejudice, but since she started out looking toy-like and now looks human, it's just... odd. Maybe it's because she's out trying to get a job? Surely you need ID and a social security number to get a job?
