Michelle West has at least one book being released this spring. I think it's called House War.

Lynn Flewelling should have the final book of the Tamir Triad out at the beginning of this year.

I was about to post something that rhymes with forge har har barton but I don't want to jinx it.

Just got the advanced reader's copies for the new Orson Scott Card and for this intriguing title, Field Guide to Getting Lost The book description is more intriguing than the review : "Her brilliant new book... is about the stories we use to navigate our way through the world and the places we traverse, from wilderness to cities, in finding ourselves or losing ourselfs. Written as a series of autobiographica essays, it draws on emblematic moments and relationshiops in Solnit's own life to explore issues of uncertainty, trust, loss, memory, desire and place. While deeply personal, Solnit's book is not just a memoir, sincer her own stories link up with everything from the captivity narratives of early American immigrants to the use of the color blue in Renaissance painting -- not to mention encounters with tortoises, monks, punk rockers, mountains, deserts, and the movie Vertigo. The resut is a distinctive, stimualating voyage of discovery that only a writer of Solnit's caliber and curiousity could produce..."

WOW, have I been neglecting this thread. Umm...new Rick Moody in September. I have the ARC but haven't started it yet--just brought it home yesterday.

And new Gabriel Garcia Marquez arrives 10/25/05. Finally.

Those are the only ones that come to mind....for now. Wink

By the author of The Time Traveler's Wife:

quote:
The Three Incestuous Sisters is an evocative, illustrated book by the best-selling author of The Time Traveler's Wife, Audrey Niffenegger. Reminiscent of the gothic style of Edward Gorey, Niffenegger's visually stunning narrative affirms her genius as a storyteller. These rich pages present the tale of three very different sisters: one who is beautiful, one who is smart, and one who is talented. A melodrama of sibling rivalry unfurls as one sister is driven mad with jealousy due to the passionate love affair of another. Escalating to a dizzying climax, the romance of the two lovers ends in sabotage, shame, and despair. Haunting illustrations and lyrical prose depict a timeless tale of love, revenge, and ultimately, transcendence.

Oh good! I read that she was a visual artist (specializing in Paper arts), so I'm curious to see it.

But...incestuous sister love story? I'll have to read it to understand I guess but already I have visions of Flowers in the Attic dancing in my head. (shudder).

“Chives?”
“Yes, m’lud?”
“Is that Ms Ephemera hovering over the croquet lawn?”
“Indeed m’lud. She’s marshalled all the haggle-dans. Missy-twigs and vale-nymphs from Claypole Woods. Apparently she intends to tear this house down and dance on the ruins.”
“Well, Chives, you’d better start the car, what? And pack my tennis things too”

Yeah, I like the artwork, but I'm curious to see how the story is...I saw the title and kind of...fell. For lack of a better term.

EDIT: Although, as an afterthought, maybe she means incestuous in the non-literal sense. Although the cover doesn't give me much hope...we'll see.

So how are you doing with Time Traveler's Wife?

I'm nearly finished. Its getting very depressing. I'm dreading the ending. I read your hidden comment on the other thread, and I'm not getting why you feel that way, but I'm sure I'll be able empathize soon.

*nods* Although your take on the ending might be different than mine. It is a very thought provoking book. Many debates with the Fiance over time travel, and relationships in general over this book.

*goes off to give the book it's own thread*

Incestuous sisters huh?

Hmmm, it will be a feat if her sophmore effort will be as stunning as Time Travelers was...
