I just finished The Tooth Fairy and my mind was blown away (ok, not utterly blown away, but quite a lot). Part of it is that I picked it up in a charity shop for 10p, because it had blurbs by Iain Banks and Michael Moorcock (both writers whom I've never read, but I know people here do), expecting it to be a godwaful horror pastiche.

It's turne dout to be the first fantasy/horror book I've read in a while that's REALLY excited me and intrigued me, that's been in some way original (I'm sorry, but that includes the latest Neil's books too). The funny thing is, there's nto a lot of fantasy/horror in it.

It was terrifying, without even having a lot of horror in it. And it was, mostly, heart-breaking. Basically, the novel follows 3 friends as the grow up. So you get a lot of teenage angst, but it has to be the best angst I've ever read. It didn't feel fake, or forced, it felt real. It took me back to beign a teenager, and it also was a wonderufl insight into male adolescence... I just finishe dit and I'm resisting the urge to re-read it. and I'm so sad to let the characters go...

So, I totally recommend it, and I'm also wanting to hear about whatever anyone here has to say about him.
