My Predicitions:

RAB is Regulus Black - and the locket found in the Black house in book five is a horcrux. Either Mundungus or Kreacher have since removed it.

The 2 unknown horcruxes are something of Ravenclaws and Harry's scar.

Neville will die heroically.

Harry might survive (possibly without powers)after the horcrux that is his scar is destroyed.

Snape is good (basically)and is trying to overthrow or destroy Voldemort.

Ohh, I like the idea of Harry's scar being a Horcrux. I had been pondering the possibility of Harry himself being a Horcrux, but that would of course mean he'd have to die... but if it's only his scar, there's a change he'll survive! Very nice idea, I hope you turn out to be right.

As for the first thing you said... I definitely agree. I will be very surprised if that turns out not to be the case.

Well I was rereading the 6th book and Dumbledore mentions that V uses significant murders to make his horcurxes and that he was going to use Harry's death to make his last one.
This implies that the magic was ready to go, and since he had just killed the murder required was there. But it went wrong and he didn't kill him and inadvertently put a piece of his soul into him.

D goes on to speculate that Voldemort many years later made his last horcrux of the snake Nagini (or whatever it's called). I think that he is wrong about the snake and Harry was the repository of the last horcrux. (By accident)

This explains all of the attributes of V's that Harry posses - parselmouth, superior skills, insight into V's mind, the pain when V was doing something - it could all indicate that he has a piece of Voldemort's soul. We know that V "transferred some of his powers into Harry" but how was this accomplished? The horcrux idea solves this.
It also means that Harry may have to die to finish off V. Or that if he can somehow destroy his scar and the piece of Voldemort within him he will live.
(this is what leads me to guess that he might lose his powers - given that JK has said that the last book finishes Harry's story - that is if he doesn't die)

Plus JK has said that the most important thing about Harry's scar is not it's shape and that the last word in the last book is "scar".

That really does make sense!

I had wondered if the last Horcrux could have been made with Cedric's murder in book four, but then I remembered that it was Pettigrew who killed him, not Voldemort directly. So what you're saying makes much more sense.

And yes, I also thought that Dumbledore was wrong about Nagini. But there's also the possibility that he suspected all along about Harry's scar but couldn't tell him just yet out of fear of how he would take it, or because he hadn't yet figured out a way to get rid of it.

It would be cool to hear from Dumbledore one last time, in the shape of a hidden letter or something.

Ahhh, soon we will find out.

oh my! for one thing i spurted when i read the above about the orgy that ron is seemingly going to have, and for another my theory is that both harry and voldemort die, they kill each other in a terrible fight (one in which others may die too) and this time they are both truly dead, no hanging around looking for a new body to inhabit. BUT for harry this WILL be a HAPPY ending, because he will be with his much loved parents and away from the despicable dursleys at last and for good. the nasty spirit of voldemort wont be around and they will all relax and fall into a more typical family pattern, fights about "where do you think you're going?" and the like. ron and hermione will get together, but hermione wants to have a career before kids which leads to some tension, and there will always be the spector of ron doing it with crookshanks that haunts the relationship (wouldnt have been so bad if hermione hadnt found them in flagrante delicto....but....) and beyond them i havent thought much about other characters fates, but i am excited--but i really love the idea of theabove spoiler intrigue, tooooo funny! you guys are so excellent!

That would be great but I've had this feeling since the 2nd or 3rd book that Neville was going to go out in a blaze of glory doing something tremendously brave to save his friends.

Since Jk has said 2 major characters die - could be (guesses):
Harry
Voldemort
Neville
Snape
one of the weaslys (other than ron or ginny)

I'm guessing Harry's saving grace will be not killing Snape, which will allow Snape to do something to help him kill Voldemort.

Got the book!

But I am going to be good, and will start reading it (Ok, I've started reading the first chapter on the way home!) after I've done some housework.

'twas a quick read, it was.

I do have ONE spoilerish question:

(highlight from hereSmile How the heck did the sword get from Griphook back to the Sorting Hat?!? (end)

I can accept it without an overt explanation, but I was wondering if I was reading too fast and missed it.

*reads*

It starts a bit clunky - I've a feeling a LOT of the first couple of chaperts went on the cutting room floor, so to speak.

Picks up though!

A quick read, yes. Especially if you don't bother with sleeping or other such nonsense.

Several of my predictions came true, which is kind of disappointing, really, 'cause I was hoping to be surprised.

SPOILERSWas anyone else gleeful when Mrs. Weasley did her Ripley impersonation? Actually, I just love that Rowling finally threw a "bad word" in there. Also, Snape, along with Petunia Dursley, has been one of my favorite characters throughout the series. I was kind of disappointed in the clumsy way she delt with all the exposition regarding his past and whatnot. And his death just wasn't dealt with fairly, I feel. Finally, I thought the last "Nineteen Years Later" chapter was useless and dull as an ending point.
End Spoilers

Anyway, I should probably sleep now. Yeah right.

OK. yes, scramble, i was HUGELY gleeful. awesomely so.

BUT! FRED!!!! NOOOOOOO!!!!!!

also, if you're GOING to have a final chapter that ties up all the loose ends, why on EARTH have it so that everyone is named after someone else, you can't tell which child belongs to which set of parents, and make it so that the poor reader has to read 8 times in order to work out who is who?

ok. will discuss more when others have also read it.

Well, sorry, I certainly didn't mean to "torture" anyone. I thought this thread already had a spoilers warning. I saw others discussing the book using the highlight code and just to be extra safe I thought I'd do the same. But my apologies.

Oops, it was originally called that but we didn't want an influx of visitors from Google so we changed it... or talked St.B. into changing it... see intrigue and excitement on page one.

Use the tool bar at the top of the post/reply box and write everything in white. It's the second button on the left. It'll put what you write between [color:removethisspaceWHITE] and [/color] Without the removethisspace. Happy spoiling!

p.s. Ack! Scramble! Put your spoiler in white! Please! Although, truth be told, I probably would have read it anyway. I keep swearing not to look in this thread until I read it, curse my infernal curiousity.

OK, I'm on page 300, but I promise, I won't give spoilers. But, here are my predictions:

Neville will sacrifice himself to save someone. Possibly Harry during a fight with Voldermort... because of this, Harry is able to defeat Voldermort and lives.

Snape's a double agent, and not really evil. But, I think he too will die in the inevitable fight with Voldermort.

Sirius is NOT really dead. There's no body. NO BODY!!!! HE'S ALIVE!!!

I also have a feeling Ginny will die. What with the whole her and Harry love thing... just seems like she would be a target...

And... that's really all my predictions... haven't thought about the horcruxes much...
