Hi,
I know this place will attract erudite readers, so here is a question for you...

A mate of mine was telling me about a horror story she read when she was a kid, that really freaked her out...

"Horror story, kid who collects insects and moths and like metamorphosis he turns into a bat and has to eat them...."

Anyone heard of it? Answers on an electron.

Cheers

Sorry, I got nothing...sounds like a Japanese horror story though...

"The other night I dreamed that King George VI was dead, and that Helen Hardinge had somehow or other got herself proclaimed Queen of England, and that I was detailed to go and tell her that it wouldn't do at all; and when I did this, all she said was, 'You see, I am really Queen Mary,' and I said, 'Oh very well' - words to that effect, and woke up.

Last night I dreamed that Eisenhower came to stay with us, and he insisted on being put to sleep in the dog kennel, with a collar and chain about his neck."

- Sir Alan Lascelles, 19 February 1980

LibraryThing.com and Powells both have boards where people try to figure out stuff like this. If I find the groups I will come back and post them. Good luck!

Well, someone on LiveJournal suggested Judith Bauer Stamper, 'Tales of the midnight hour'.

Looking into it, we shall see!!

The other really good place for a question like this is on ABEbooks BookSleuth. Good luck!

Found the book!
Its The Methuen Book of Strange Tales is the one being sought. The book contains the short story "Moths" by Robert Swindells. The cover of the book features an unhappy bat-boy.

Abebooksleuths was the area that came up with the solution. Wicked.

Thanks for coming back and telling us ... I always wonder how these "I can't remember the title" things turn out.

(And now I have a new place to recommend ... for kid's books, I usually recommmend Loganberry Books' "Stump the Bookseller".)

You are a Confectioner. Who can take a sunrise and sprinkle it with dew? Actually, that's Bob The Enchanter, two doors down on the left. But you make delectable treats, which is no simple feat considering Oompa Loompas won't be invented for three centuries. Not only do you delight with your sweets, but you've paved the way for a new profession: dentistry!
