Oh for fucks sake, you can't be serious.

The series has been bleated and screamed about for years as "what superheroes would be like in the real world" and the like, even here on this very message board.

The board has a search function, use it.

b) Travis, this is unnacceptable behavior. If you want to continue, take it to Flame Wars. Do not continue in such a manner anywhere else on the board.

I'd say that starting with "Listen, punk..." to someone who's politely said they'd ignore him does qualify, or at least earn you most of the points.
Finishing that way certainly does, and, although I do respect any moderating decission, I can't help wondering why that post hasn't earned Travis, if not a ban, a second strike. That last line is SO offensive in SO many levels I cannot even begin...

anyway, Travis:
So, watchmen sucks because of a couple of things that don't really make much sense? And that is enough to say it's unbearable to read, that Moore sucks as a writer, etc? maybe the wee exageration there was seen as a dleiberate attempt to provoke a reaction among other posters? A negative one? Maybe?

As for the "real world" thing...
quote:

(My emphasis)

So, that is conditional -a verbal tense used for hypothesis and things not real. the moment you start with "What would happen if..." you're entering the world of the "not real". Even though you might base yourself in real events etc, you're still speculating. I mean, there's a guy who goes into some sort of radioactive chamber and then comes back from the dead with absolute control and knowledge of time, space and matter. not very much like real world, is it?
The secret compartment complaint doesn't hold -the police are investigating a murder or suicide. Why would they meticulously search every square inch of the scene looking for secret compartmentS? That's something your D&D party does in a dungeon, not the police.

Apart form that, as Gal points out, if those are your only criticisms of the comic then you don't have much of a case.
If, however, you're willing to discuss something more deeply like the sttoryline or character development or anything else that's not just picking on small, petty stuff, in a non-confrontational manner, I'm sure many posters will be willing to join and add their views.

He's right, but he's also a troll (and I'm willing to bet it's same one again.) It's not his opinions that make him a troll, but his phrasing.

i thought i was the punk here...

but i guess he wasn't using it in a musical sense... Mad

i don't understand the concept of tearing down works that are acclaimed. like we've all been blinded. sometime's things are good, and you have to place it in context with other comics of its age. and also, its fiction dude, some room for not-quite-realistic is allowed. get a grip (or maybe a grappling hook...)

Haha.

Was I right or was I right? Of course I was right. I'm always right, even when I'm wrong I'm right. Which I always am.

I've admitted before that I am not current with the Marvel and DC universes. I do know that the last time I read FF they were at the Four Freedom Plaza and not the Baxter Building.

The last I remember of the Baxter Building, Christoff, in Doctor Doom's body(or vice versa, I can't remember), hauled the Baxter Building off into space.

In one of the very early Spider-Man stories, he tries to sneak into FF headquarters and join them.
They're celebrities. They have their own merchendise, and everyone knows where they live. They rely for defense on superscience, superpowers, superfriends, and being lead by Reed friggin' Richards

I know its not an open thread anymore, but thats one of the bits of Marvel mythology i really like

I acctually disagree and heres why.

Police rarely search for hidden passage ways in peoples homes. Unless there is some kind of blaringly obvious evidence of such, why waste their time? I'm sure if I was murdered the cops are going to press every section of my wall and floors, move every book on my book shell, pull every candle and HOPE they find something.

Police look for evidence. They look at the scene and see whats out of place, what doesnt make sense.

Also, I'm pretty sure people see the rope. They mention that he is the only "masked hero" who wont go away.

It is a military base in what the 70s or 80s right? Sure they might have had alarms. But if its just a research base, and there were patroling gaurds, and Manhattan was there anyway... why bother?

I think you just want to be the first persno to say the book sucks because everybody else likes it. Someone beat you to it, by saying that it is to intelligent and sophisticated. Stating blatently that "the incredibles" is better because it isnt as bog down with socio political thought and doesnt make us check our own realities.

Believe me. Mr. Moore knows what is up.

Good night.
