I did not know Frank Miller was writing Batman again.

I really liked what he did in Batman 404-407, Year One. I think it was complimented well with Mazzucchelli's art.

I liked Year One, that one was very good.

But the Dark Knight Returns, and the Dark Knight Strikes Again were just......weird.

And where is your avatar from, Chad?

It's bringing back memories.....Robocop?

It looks like something I've seen and recorded onto VCR along with the Running man and stuff like that....

haha, I did see the second one. Frank Miller wrote it, right?

It wasn't that good. I should finally watch the first Robocop.

You knew my avatar was Buckaroo Banzai, right St. B?

I liked Year One and Dark Knight Returns but have heard *weird* things about Dark Knight Strikes Again. He's done an All-Star Batman and Robin that's supposedly awful. And then he's doing Holy Terror Batman, which I think we have a thread on somewhere...

*goes off to look*

Found it!

The man is obbsessed with very young side kicks!!

And woman's arses....I know comicbook women are often super curvey..but seriously, almost everyone of them is just randomly sicking her ass in the camera (if you can call it that).

And what the hell was going on with the city in the bottle? Did I miss some kind of reference there?

Er, City in the Bottle reference?

Miller kinda bums me out. All his stuff has become soooooooo over-sexed. Sin City looked stylish, I guess. But just way over-sexed. Rosario Dawson's reaction was the best. "Frank's a very sick man for thinking [my costume] up."

Are you talking about Kandor? If so, that was the capital of Krypton that Brainiac shrunk and Superman rescued way back in comic history.

I never was a Frank Miller fan. His work often like Alan Moore is always better in theory then in reality although Batman Begins was based off his Year One work. I did enjoy the Miller/McFarlane Spawn comic. Sin City was even too extreme for me and I go to Manson concerts.

Yeah, it wasn't that memorable for me either. Although it wasn't the centerpiece of DKSA, I would encourage you to hunt down any comics you can find that have Kandor stories, if you can get them reasonably priced. They really are a lot of fun to read.

Oh, for sure. That's one thing that the book did for me, was increase my interest in everything apart from Batman. I'm trying to read more Superman (Am making my way through 'For Tomorrow' at the moment) and I wanna read more JLA, Green Lanten (sp?) etc...

Any suggestions will be very much apreciated!

Personally, I can't follow the new stuff. I said before, but I get lost. I long for the old days of concise, coherent stories. DC comics has some great hardbound archives that are reasonably priced if you buy them at Amazon, Ebay, or a discount comic dealer.

For cheap good reads, Marvel has the Essentials series which are black and white, softcover bound reprints. Theres usually about 20 plus comics in each volume and well, I'll just let you google them. It's a good way to brush up on Marvel history.

I am reading DC's JSA off and on though because it has the original superteam of the Justice Society of America, precursor to JLA. I believe they are collected in trade form as well. I have the first 50 issues individually somewhere in a box.

Anyone get the new one? Good stuff. Crazy things happened.

Spoiler in white: Spidey revealed his secret identity and went against Cap?!? That seems hard to imagine.

I hope Marvel knows what they're doing with that, but at this point I'm still very much along for the ride! The whole underground resistance Cap is leading looks to be very cool.

I get the feeling that won't last. Daredevil's has had his identity outed too many times for that to last too. They'll write around that. What was with Cap going around unmasked like that?

On another note, I like the way Eternals didn't ignore the Civil War aspect with the Superhero registration.

I dunno. I hope they do something with it and it's not just a cheap gimmick. It could be classic Peter Parker, trying to do the right thing and it ends up really screwing over his life.

And Daredevil's actually paying the price now for his identity being outted. He's in prison. (Not sure how this works into the Civil War line, though).

As far as Cap goes, is it just because he was trying to stay underground and he didn't think anyone would recognize the guy behind the Captain America mask? Seems kind of implausible, because he pulled off his mask a few years ago too, didn't he?
