Well, I've got my copy of "Nation" and shall be devouring it this weekend.

Also read recently that Danny Boyle (Trainspotting and 28 Days Later) is now developing "Truckers" as an animated Dreamworks movie (although Dreamworks have been sitting on the rights for a few years now).

I still have a copy of the Cosgrove Hall adaptation and wish they'd been able to complete the trilogy.

Discworld may indeed be just a shaggy dog series of books, but I pick up odd little things whenever I re-read them.

Currently re-reading Moving Pictures (which is brilliant by the way, very much a parody of the movie industry/it's beginning) and at the end, ghastly things from the Dungeon Dimensions break through via the movie screen - anyway there a bit towards the end where someone calls it the "Cthinema" that's just gotta be a Cthulhu reference, right?

I just checked the Annotated Pratchett Files and there isn't anything in there about it - and the book is out in the car, so I can't give a page number...

Heck, the critter that shows up in The Colour of Magic is mostly tentacles. It's shoggoths all the way down, I think.

about halfway through Nation - I like it well enough. It doesn't move as fast as Discworld, but that could be because there are soooo many Discworld books, we've already been introduced, so we can just jump right into the story with minimal descriptions.

I'm not sure I understand the beer thing. I keep feeling like there must be a scientific reason behind it and I wanna work it out for myself and just feel like I'm not intelligent enough. But I also overlook the obvious.

I can very much understand "Daphne's" POV - I asked nearly the same questions. Smile

I'm not done with it yet, but fionn - if yer gonna explode, I don't mind spoilers. Smile

I am enjoying Nation much more than folklore of the discworld, which, quite apart from Jacqueline Simpsons jibe about accountants, which for some reason put her in my bad books, I found was neither as funny nor taught me as much new information than I would have liked it to be/to have.

I hate it when you finish a good book, because it means the other not as good books waiting to be read or not as tempting.

oh I finished it about a month ago.

I think I need to read it again too. Smile It wasn't quite what I expected from Terry Pratchett (it seemed a bit light) but I enjoyed it. I would really like to see a tree-climbing octopus!
