I just read this book. Everybody, go do the same. Its a "graphic novel" so it wont take to long. I read book one, theres two others I guess. I will be finding them this weekend. Hopefully.
Blacksad is this detective, the first issue he finds out a former lover of his - Natalia, an actress and totally hot(even for a cat) - is dead and begins tracking down the murderer. Nothing to elaborate in the story but the charecters, although animals, are very human and the art and story have energy. |

Blacksad is very very pretty and a fun story. I have the first two, but I don't know if the third is out yet or not. I need to go find out. If you find out anything on it, Eldi, post back here, will ya?
The story is pretty basic Guy Noir mystery, but the characters are indeed fun, the writing is tight and the dialogue is great with each character, and the art is very lovely. It's all anthropormorphic, but it's fun seeing the characteristics of the animals played out in the characters. I thought it added rather than subtracted from the story (though you need to like anthropomorphic stuff to begin with). ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~  I live for three things: The Girls, football, and live jazz. Well that's just weird, because I got 1 & 2 from my comic book shop this summer. As far as I know, 3 was new and hadn't come out yet (well, maybe new to the US). I'll call my indie comic/book shop this morning and see what they know. If they can't get it, no one can

yeah, amazon had real recent release dates(though 3 was released before 2 according to its dates, if i remember right) and borders said they couldnt order any of em. |

Just called my local super dooper indie book/comic book shop and they said that they have ordered copies of #3, that it was supposed to ship back at the end of September but they didn't get any, he wasn't sure when they'd be getting it but was pretty certain they'd be getting some.

Personally, I think that the second book is the best one: the first one is the typical detective story and in the third, the story is too much complex for just one volume and situating Blacksad’s world in our world loses something.
Anyway, It’s a very advisable series and the characters are gorgeous. Nice to enter in the forum. |

I sincerely hope Blacksad finds a new home (read: publisher) soon. iBooks filed for chapter 7 recently.
