I read Of Mice and Men last night and what a delightful lttle book - I enjoyed it immensely!
Just so happened Grapes of Wrath was on tv - so it was a Steinbeck kinda night. Is the rest of his stuff as good? Can I blindly pick up anything with his name on it and be assured of a good if not excellent read? |

I love Steinbeck. His writing is beautiful, heartwrenching, and accessible. I haven't read all his stuff, but what I have read, I've really enjoyed. Grapes of Wrath and East of Eden are much longer than Of Mice and Men, but well worth it. Out of his shorter stuff, I've read Cannery Row and Tortilla Flat (both light and fun reads), also The Pearl. Oh, and Travels with Charlie a non-fiction book about his road trip across the US is fantastic, especially if you're on the road.
I've picked up Cup of Gold (his first novel) about Captian Morgan and pirates but have yet to read it. In literary circles it's generally regarded as crap, but hey! It's Steinbeck writing about frickin' pirates. Come on. ____________________________________________________________________ "Patriotism is defined as the last resort of a scoundrel.
