I'd kinda like to be in Pullman's world as well. I'm wondering what my Daemon would be.

good question.

I suppose I'd probably live in a world where they are invisible though. I am not incredibly solid about identity and such.

though i think it'd be nice to have a sneaky little cat. something cuddly and smallenough to travel with.

or perhaps a horse...

I suppose the hope is that we'll someday know and be grown-up right?

I think, instead of translating reality into ficion, I'd rather translate fiction into reality Smile

I think Diana Wynne Jones' Deep Secret universe would bepretty good, provided you could do the magic stuff...

There's a Stephen King short story-- Rock and Roll Heaven-- that i'm about to ruin the ending to.

A couple is trapped in a small town for eternity, forced to endure the hellish torture of every great dead rock star playing a concert. Forever. John Lennon jamming with Elvis... Keith Moon on drums... etc. King somehow makes this out to be actually scary.

But seriously, this sounds like the greatest afterlife ever. And new ones get added all the time... so as soon as i get tired of one lineup, Warren Zevon and Johhny Cash show up to make things even better. i know i'm tempting fate by saying i want to end up in a Stephen King short story, but "rock and roll heaven" seems pretty damn appealing...

I third Cobalt and FatPigeon- I'd love to live in HHGTTG world- I want Ford Prefect's job!

But I also DEFINITELY wouldn't mind living in London Below. As long as I had a weapon, of course.

wow.
this would be hard.
i think i'd like to be in 1633...and that series. basically 'cause it would take place in the 30 years war, but I'd have the modern bit as well...would be interesting.

other than that? hmm...

I like Pullman's world as well...or the Discworld..oh yeah. Discworld, hands down.
