Dear all,

My name is Denise. Dutch. 27 years old. Artistic madcase, well sorta.

Started out as a Kate Bush fan, was introduced to Tori Amos by a friend, who later also introduced me to Neil's work. "Do you want to listen to a very nice and funny story told by the writer himself who has a very sexy voice?" Uhm, oke... Well, she was right.

In reference, classical to be a fan of both Tori and Kate I am sure, but trust me, they are not alike. If I try to explain this to people I usually use sound examples. Oh and facial expressions of course. Kate taught me about 'being a woman' and Tori taught me that it's oke to show it too. That's the difference, right there.

Hmmm, I am very dedicated to another musician who died in 1974. His name is Nick Drake and if you like guitar at all, check it out. NickDrake.co.uk. His music is Magical... I help to organize the annual gatherings in the UK. So I can be found in the UK at least once a year.

I am English at Heart, Dutch by origins, but I am a World Citizen. (which reminds me; David Sylvian. Great musician.)

I dabble in webdesign, photography, painting, singing and the writing of short stories and (mainly) poetry. Sometimes I write short reflective pieces too. I will not claim it's any good. Whether it is or not is for you to decide. To me it's just a form of expression (they all are) which is needed to keep me from exploding inside.

That being said, I'll open a thread with some poetry I guess after this. It will be named, well I don't know actually what it will be named, but it will refer to poetry and it will be posted by me, so there, that should give you a hint! Wink

If you want to know anything more about me, please visit my MySpace Profile. Careful now. *grins* Cool

Tata for now and might find you here later!
Denise

hihihi!

I lurve Nick Drake. He's some of my favorite Sunday afternoon music.

Is your poetry going to be in this thread? Or in a new thread? Cause if you're just introing yourself, I think this will do much better over in the World's End > World's End portion of the board, where people will greet you with balloons and muffins and cookies. But if you're going to be doing the poetry thing here, then, well, here's the best place.

I just woke up. I still need coffee. Excuse me.

Tah! I couldn't find where I was supposed to introduce myself! So I figured I'd do it here! Muffins eh? I think I should copy and paste! Wink

Ehm, Poetry it is then! Here! Saves space!

Right, poetry then... Uhm what shall we start with? Some drama and some romance. That always seems to work... *grins*

This Stage

When life is fading
who is there
the shadow in the dark
the empty vessel of promises
the lingering tunes
of a long gone lark

Here I stand before you
and I ask of thee why
I seek thy eyes for how
this could ever have happened
the moment when all things faded
when the actors take a bow

They left the stage
and nothing came
in return for their great show
Oh and some show it was
they balanced life and death
in their hands and in their words
and mixed it up in one go

Then threw it away
the last composed remnants
of what I once used to be
What I was can now never return
I am new, old and all of this
always acting, never free

This stage
it seems it has me chained
to it's very core
I am within it still standing
Baffled by it's grandeur
But locked beneath it's floor

For The Invisible One
My Immortal Lover, for Immortal, we are all

I learned never to rush a person
and still I do
I grow so tired of my old self
trying hard to get back
to where I once was
where things were still
seemingly whole

I never do as I'm told

Oh my loved one, I'm growing old
where are you now?
I know where you're hiding
You're inside my mind
You're inside my heart
and every fibre of my soul
and yet you're still
so hard to find

Almost Impossible

I can feel you,
I can almost taste you
you're lingering inside
it's like I have a memory of you
knowing how you are
and how you move
and how you love
I feel it deep inside of me
And yet you seem so far

So indescribably far away

But I know you're there
Out there, somewhere
Maybe hoping and wishing
and dreaming about me too
How can I be so in touch
With someone I don't even know
Yet or maybe already knew
in another lifetime
That knowledge would be almost

Too much to bear
Because I need you here
By my side
And not there

Hi Rosegolden Dove. I think this is an excellent idea! I'm just wondering - do you want other people to post poetry on here, or comments on poetry or both?
