I got a gift card to amazon for my birthday the other day and I'm looking to spend it. I have been searching for books and reading samples but a lot of books don't really excite me. I don't tend to like things set in the far past our far future. Can you suggest books for me? Preferably on kindle. Thanks.

ROOM By Emma Donaghue ego forceps ergo ego forceps **** "Chives?" "Yes, m'lud?" "Is that Ms Ephemera hovering over the croquet lawn?" "Indeed m'lud. She's marshalled all the haggle-dans. Missy-twigs and vale-nymphs from Claypole Woods. Apparently she intends to tear this house down and dance on the ruins." "Well, Chives, you'd better start the car, what? And pack my tennis things too" --- Joe 3Heads

Hm, amazing and not future? Well, I think John Crowley's Little, Big is the greatest fantasy novel ever, a singular masterpiece, baffling and wondrous.
