They are good for a laugh

but not up to the same standard as Rowling or pullman

a bit better than nancy drew though

but do remember they are targeted at children

the 1st one is the best and really is a fun concept and a laugh out loud book

i only read the first one.

i enjoyed it, but only to a certain extent. it is very much written towards children (as opposed to, say, Harry Potter, or the Princess Bride, in which you, or me, at least, barely notice that it is written for children.)

I agree. The Fowl series is much more geared toward a children audience. That said, they are good for a light, breezy read. Books 1 and 3 were the best in my opinion. The 2nd one was strangely dull.

I think i've only read the first two, I know the third is kicking around my house...or maybe that's the forth. they were rather amusing though. for some reason I always thought of Artemis as a slightly older, less insane version of Stewie from Family Guy....

I can reccomend The Supernaturalist, it was a surprisingly good read and very different from he artemis foul books, well its Sci Fi rather than fantasy for a start. Though yet again a book geared towards children and young adults.
