Crichton's Prey was lame! Nanotech is so obviously a world-changing tech and he couldn't come up with anything more interesting than a B-movie?
Try Greg Bear's Blood Music, or Nancy Kress, or Neal Stephenson's The Diamond Age. Heck, I can't think of a nano-story lamer than Prey. And I'm amazed that Crichton didn't cite Drexler's Engines of Creation in the lengthy bibliography. |
