Apologies if there's a thread like this already -I could n't find one using the search facility. This author has been recommended to me, but I don't know much about him. Has anyone here read his work? And which book would be the best to begin with?
Cheers!
Louise

I have only read two, both I enjoyed. Never Let me Go, I read first and thought it was good. Then I read The Remains of the Day and thought it was amazing. I would recommend that to anyone, if you like books like Atonement, A Month in the Country or Last Orders then you will love it.

Remains of the Day is one of the most extraordinary, perfect books I have ever read. It's very short, but is just so beautifully written, nuanced and understated. It's just exquisite - give it a go.

I think my partner's got a copy of Remains of the Day somewhere, so I will see if he can root it out.
Yep, he was recommended to me because I was saying i was running out of Swift and McEwan to read... Smile

Waspfearer: Try A Month in Country by J L Carr. Small but perfectly formed.
