What I had remembered was the immediate sense of context and scene-setting I'd experienced upon first reading of the first pages of those novels. And one I do remember: "In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit." Grabbers.

In the past few days, we've been getting a *huge* amount of Notifications that are bouncing back to the mod email. If you've noticed that you haven't been receiving your normal notifications (ie, new posts, private messages, etc), please make sure that gaiman.board.mods@gmail.com is in your email's safe list.
