Just for my own amusement I started compiling a list of references for the main characters and events in the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen series. This is far from complete as it sometimes seems that every frame depicts some minor character from e.g. Victorian pornography or a 60s sitcom, for which see Jess Nevins' famous annotations.

Bram Stoker - Dracula (Mina)
RL Stephenson - Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde
HR Haggard - King Solomon's Mines (Alan)
HG Wells - The Invisible Man, First Men in the Moon, War of the Worlds, Island of Dr Moreau, The Crystal Egg, The Stolen Bacillus(?)
ER Burroughs - Barsoom (Mars) novels
CS Lewis - Out of the Silent Planet
E Arnold - Gullivar of Mars
EA Poe - Murders in the Rue Morgue
Jules Verne - 20000 Leagues under the sea, Mysterious Island
H Melville: First sentence of Moby-Dick
Virginia Woolf - Orlando
W Shakespeare - The Tempest
B Johnson - The Alchemist
AC Doyle - Holmes stories, esp The Final Problem (Moriarty) , The Empty House (Moran) and the Bruce-Partington Plans (Mycroft)
Sax Rohmer - Fu Manchu stories
"Sapper" - Bulldog Drummond stories
A Crowley - Moonchild, Diary of a Drug Fiend
S Maugham - The Magician (Haddo)
Margaret Cavendish - The Blazing World
Ian Fleming - Bond novels esp Dr No
Frank Richards - Greyfriars stories (Billy Bunter, Harry Wharton)
Geoffrey Willans/Ronald Searle - Molesworth books (Basil (Fotherington-)Thomas, Tim Peason)
EW Hornung - Raffles stories
Brecht/Weil - Threepenny Opera
M Moorcock - Jerry Cornelius saga (Jerry, Frank, Catherine and Mrs Cornelius)
I Sinclair - Slow Chocolate Autopsy, poss Dining on Stones both featuring "Andrew Norton"
JK Rowling - Harry Potter novels (sleazy guy in Hyde Park who is Tom Riddle aka Voldemort)

Films: The Third Man, Performance, Get Carter
TV: Callan, The Avengers, Fireball XL5

I received these as a gift quite a few years ago and I'm pulling these from memory... which may be inaccurate - I think the majority of these were in the one with all the text-based sections; in any case I'll stop now. Alan Moore is one clever dude.

Coleridge - Rime Of The Ancient Mariner, Kubla Khan.
De Nerval - Aurelia
