There are just some stories and some authors that better translate to the visual realm than in the original story. I was reminded of this when there was a mention of Phillip K. Dick's "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?" the story itself is dry and diffilcult to get through but the movie based off of it was great. His other stories also translate better to the film even if they barely resemble the original story. I just wanted other opinions and maybe other stories that are horrible to read wonderful to see.

I prefer Bladerunner to the original book but with Scanner Darkly I prefer the book (but it is my all -time favourite book Big Grin)
A book I'd like to see made into a movie because I think it would work better is Tale of Time City by Dianna Wynne Jones.

Almost anything by Chris Mullin would make a better movie or TV drama than it would a book. He's a nice man, a great MP, a tireless and successful campaigner against miscarriages of justice, and when it comes to writing novels he's got some fabulous plots and killer ideas. When it comes to actual writing, alas, it all falls apart.

His most famous book - A Very British Coup - was made into a truly excellent TV drama serial, but I think his other one, Year Of The Fire Monkey would make a good thriller, too.
