To you comics writers and scripters out there, or those who just know if only from reading: how exactly does one go about writing a comics story?

Or if it is easier, how do you, or would you go about writing them? I have been toying with the idea for a graphic novel for a while and I just want to know a little more as I try it out. Hope this makes sense.

Mythos, there are many ways to go about developing a script as far as ideas goes, especially if you are not attempting to write for an established character. The format for a comic script is a little more strict. First no matter what you write, any publisher will demand a full plot summary. If your idea is ongoing(even 100+ issues) they want a summary of storylines. A miniseries and maxiseries, they prefer 2-5 page summaries outlining the full story and issue breaks. Some publishers will demand a script outline which is a page by page description for the whole first issue. Remember to keep in mind issue length (19,21,23 is standard now)The script is more complicating. It should appear like this:

PAGE ONE, PANEL ONE(describe how the 1st panel looks)

PANEL TWO, etc: (same deal applies)

CAPTION:

"IF THERE IS ONE"

VOICE ONE:

SAYING WHATEVER

VOICE TWO(electric balloon if emphasis is needed)

AND SAY WHAT YOU WANT!

thats basically the style. In script writing you are the writer, directer,and editor.
