Also from the guardian:

"While his 1960s counter-culture contemporaries have faded into obscurity, Robert Crumb has flourished. Why? Robert Hughes explains his relevance 40 years after Fritz the Cat, the Vulture Demonesses and the Snoid were born."

I'm a classical cartoon animator, so i am more attracted to graphic and manga style, although i love the work of Dave McKean & Charles Vess.
My other picks would be Jamie Hewlett (Tank Girl), Ken Akamatsu (Love Hina), Mike Mignola, (Hellboy), Mayao Miyazaki, (Nausicaa and the Valley of the Wind) & the actually schizophrenic Jim Wooding, (Frank).
Well...that's my two pence!

hey mtxx,

Great pics. Do you know, by any chance, what're the names of the stories where these posts come from? I'm interested in knowing what that guy with a cube for a cranium, belching surreal avatars is about. And also what's the story of that french roamer in a giant field of giant alien flowers and things. And of course, dolphins and crystals... If anyone knows what're the names, let us know. Some of us are Moebius-ignorant and would love to read these stories.

The dolphins and the guy with the cranium are most likely just stand-alone paintings... And I've forgotten the name of that story with the flowers... I've read it many years ago in Danish.... it's most likely that it's the kind of story that would have been published in the American Heavy Metal magazine in the 80's or early 90's.

Sorry I couldn't be of any more help. Frown

Okay... Vaughn Bodé, psychedelic comic book visionary, and an inspiration to graffiti artists everywhere.... Died in 1975 in a sexual experiment involving a machine used for autoerotic asphyxia.
